ABOUT COMPANY Karlovarské Minerální Vody, a.s. (KMV) is the largest producer of mineral and spring water in the Czech Republic. At present, the company fills, bottles, and exports natural and flavored Mattoni and Magnesia mineral water, natural and flavored Aquila spring water. The company has been successfully operating not only on the territory of the Czech and Slovak Republic, but also in 20 other countries worldwide. You may encounter its products in restaurants and shops in Europe, the Russian Federation, the Baltic countries, as well as overseas, e.g. in Canada, the USA, Japan, and Australia.In its home region of West Bohemia, KMV regularly achieves high ranking within the annual Employer of the Year survey (Carlsbad region). HISTORY In 1867, the local Otto Spring was leased by a mineral water exporter from Carlsbad, Heinrich Mattoni (1830 – 1910). With unprecedented energy, Mattoni ventured into building a modern mineral water filling and shipping plant in Kyselka. And in 1868, he began filling mineral water into glass bottles and also labeling bottles with printed paper labels depicting a red eagle – the symbol of the Mattoni family emblem. Heinrich Mattoni was an able businessman and he mastered the art of advertising. Success of Mattoni´s mineral water (Kysibelka) inspired Mattoni to buy the whole village of Kyselka (1873) from Count Czernin and to build a local spa as well as infrastructure. When Heinrich Mattoni died in 1910, about 10 million bottles of Mattoni mineral water were being exported worldwide.Following the end of World War II, the company was nationalized and operated as a plant of West Bohemian Hot Springs. After 1989, this firm was transformed into the joint-stock company Karlovarské minerálni vody (Carlsbad Mineral Water).Carlsbad Mineral Water has complemented the successful Mattoni mineral water with Aquila spring water, which is also filled at the Kyselka plant, and Magnesia – natural mineral water rich in magnesium, which is filled in the West Bohemian town of Mnichov.
